Tom,

You have gotten the message by now I'm sure - but once again - "Get rid of the fire starter plastic". Follow through on any oght recommendations will improve safety.

The other thing - get rid of any fuel hose that you don't know the absolute history on.

"A piece of nice Good Year hose left by the PO does not qualify it as a "Keeper". Get rid of it. Get new hose from Ken at Vanagain.com or from Ron Salmon at Bus Depot or one of our other list vendors. You will have no doubts then about your hoses. But any hose "left over" is not a candidate for fire safety on these Vanagon beastie boys. Know without doubt the kind, source and age of your fuel hoses. for peace of mind.
