hi. no, it's not true at all that the dash needs to be removed to replace the booster or pedal cluster. I've done it several times without removing the dash.

yes, just remove the instrument cluster and start disconnecting and unbolting the master cylinder. not a bad job at all. be sure to get the o-ring in place that seals the master cylinder to the booster. another tip ............assuming your new master cylinder comes without a reservoir on it......... sometimes I'll pry the reservoir off with the master cylinder still bolted firmly to the booster........just to hold the MC in place while I carefully pry off the res. Or it can be done in a vice too, off the car.
