It's rather like musicians naming their axe - "Lucille" being the prime example. Others never do.

I have vanity plates reading "DJAZZ" but I don't think I've ever referred to it by that name. "The Westy" is pretty typical, it gets the point across. Of course on here I have to use the full name "'84 Westy Wolfsburg" :)
