Keeping receipts in the vehicle is a good idea. However, my flaps prints their receipts on thermal paper, and Florida is hot. The paper turns dingy and the print becomes illegible.

I make photocopies of my receipts to avoid this problem.

Who knows, maybe it will last years. But I'd keep that receipt in the glovebox just in case. Sorry if that wasn't the resounding resassurance you wanted to hear, but it does seem to be consistent with what others are writing as well.
