When the speedometer pointer on my unmodified '91 Carat with automatic transmission is exactly on 60 MPH, on level ground the tach pointer's right edge is lined up with the 3600 RPM hash mark. I'd guesstimate this as indicating about 3550 RPM. My van has 87K miles on it and the stock 205/70R14 tires with about 20K miles on them.
For those of you with 4-speed manual trannys and similar tires, what RPM does your tach show in top gear on level ground at exactly 60 MPH?
No special reason other than curiosity as to the practical outcome of the difference in gearing between the two at cruising speed (ultimately with cruising MPG in mind).
Sorry if this is a dumb or rehashed question - just getting my Vanagon list feet wet.
