Hi all. I connected a warning buzzer to the Jetta "High pressure" oil switch. Simple diagram of what I did: http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/HIghPressureOil.jpg My test: engine running, oil switch disconnected, buzzer went on. Ignition on, buzzer goes on, engine running, buzzer stops. This seems correct. But..... Driving up my usual mountain test route, the buzzer "chirped" on inbetween gears near the top. Idling at the top, the buzzer "chirped" on/off in tempo with idle RPM. Revving it up a little stopped this, but it returned at idle. Returned home, no chirping. (presumably, the oil was cooler from coasting down the mountain) The '86 Vanagon Digifant diagram, shows a solid state part along with a relay (buzzer?) and the warning light. The Jetta diagram is similar. Is the buzzer chirping a sign of poor oil pressure at idle (hot), due to a lack of the solid state part, or ? It didn't do this at idle cold/warm. Oil level is fine. Thanks for any help! Neil.
