Hi all,

It is actually Friday, so I thought I'd take the liberty of sending on this
request that you participate in a survey on political advertising.  Despite
the topic, it is NOT political - it's academic research.  You all represent
a really wide range of views and approaches, so the more of you who might be
willing to do this, the more I'm sure it would be helpful to the
researchers.  I have no connection with them, just got this from another
list I'm on.

It doesn't take as long to complete as they say - 10 minutes is more like
it, not half an hour.

I am Professor Monique Mitchell Turner from the University of Maryland. I,
along with my colleague, Charlton McIlwain from New York University are
engaging in a NON PARTISAN, informational study on political ads. Neither
Dr. McIlwain or I work for any political party—we are researchers.  This
study is approved by the University of Maryland Institutional Review Board.

We need a wide variety of research participants, which is why we are asking
for your help. We would like you to participate in this study and we would
like you to ask others to also be in the study (your friends, your family,
other adults over age 18 that you know). As more people engage in this
study, the more realistic and representative of the United States our
results will be. We are hoping that this e-mail message will continue to
spread until we have a large and representative sample.

We appreciate your time.  Please know that there are NO correct or incorrect
answers to the survey questions inside.  We simply want to know your
opinions.  All of these data are completely confidential—your name or IP
address will NEVER be associated with your answers.  If you can help us with
