I installed a thin-wire spring that I found at Lowes into the hose
between the breather tower and the intake.  So there's no way that hose
is collapsing now, even when warm.  After a drive, the dipstick was
still pushed out of the tube.

I might try to do a compression test today if I can find the time.  In
this case a leak-down might be called for but I don't have the gear to
do that myself.  Maybe I could try running with the breather hose just
dumping overboard, as a test.

The engine is running well otherwise.
