Yes I know about the O2 sensor issues as well but this time is was the temp 2 sensor not functioning properly. I don't know if it would of run with the temp 2 sensor unplugged.
It sure was a PITA. I called CAA twice then cancelled twice.

Something to know about on the O2 sensor for the 2.1L WBX. Just?
disconnect the bloody thing back near the coolant reservoir and drive on?
- no more worries. There is a quick disconnect there that makes it easy.?
The ECU will drop into an operational mode that while making the engine?
run a little richer, won't stop you from traveling on without further?
stops. Having to drive a few, cool a few, drive a few, cool a few - had?
to be a royal PITA.?
?
So now you know!?

After about 20 minutes the engine cooled and I was able to drive it for a couple more miles. I did this 3 times till I finally returned to my brother's. I knew from a previous episode where I had a bad connection to the temp 2 sensor that it had to be the problem but this time the wiring was good. I was very lucky to find a VW dealer open on a Saturday and had a sensor in stock. After a $40 dollar cab ride and about a 2 minute repair I was up and running again.?

A quick hand will replace it with minimal fluid loss. Had I not found a dealer with the part in stock I would of been dead in the water in Toronto. I really don't know what I would of done.?
