If it isn't going to be too long until you put the Subie in you may want to apply for an extension of the emissions test. Here in MD I can get a six month extension just by submitting a request on-line. That may buy you enough time to get to the Subie install point, and save you the $$$ of new parts for a 2.1 that is going to go away.
