Sad to hear about Bob's passing. I too respect his knowledge and expertise on the engine internals. I have always seen his posts on the list as "must read" like those of a few other "giants" of Vanagon knowledge. Even though I never have been inside my engine and probably never will be, I trusted his comments as accurate and learned from him. I did have one brief off list email exchange with him when I noticed a Jonathan Richman lyric in his email tagline. Just waxing nostalgic about my time in Boston in the 80's, driving my old VWs around RT 128 and seeing those radio towers.

I am also very impressed at the turnout of support and concern for Bob's family at this time. I hope that those who can make it to the services and VW caravans, etc will post some pictures and videos so that those of us who can't make it can partake from afar.

Edward
