glad you concur Mike.
it does seem though that in the normal drama and ongoing saga of daily
life..........
for many people...........driving is just another thing they do without
thinking too much about it ( not implying Blackbeard's driver does that )
............
like brushing our teeth.
Complacency creeps in.
We drive for thousands of days never thinking about it..........And for
SURE...........we want to assume the 'common idiot' on the road isn't
thinking at all about their driving, who is behind them............or giving
signals in advance, etc. etc. .............and particularity, not following
too close themselves !
If we are not watching like a hawk that other drivers don't do something
stupid suddenly..........it the becomes an odds game........about when our
number is up.
But we can reduce the chances of accidents to a very high degree. ( they
sure do in the airline industry for example )
as a Safety Maven and Nut.........I say :
"ALL car accidents are preventable" ..................at some point in the
overall equation......
whether in good road design, or keeping foreign objects off the road, or in
car design..............or in car repair and maintenence ...........and of
course, primarily in what the driver does.........even if that means staying
at home during a blizzard............how the driver drives has extreme
effect on whether or not accidents happen. Seldom is it actually the fault
of the road or car .........and weather and conditions can be a major
factor of course.
The only accident I can think of that is not preventable AT SOME POINT in
the whole equation is a meteor falling out of the sky and hitting a car.
ALL the rest of them are PREVENTABLE.
again, no dissing intended upon our unfortunate vanagon buddy here !
