Sounds weird to me Roger. the first thing I'd go for is *getting the part number* ! Often when I get a VW parts person to look up a part...........even if I'm not going to buy it because it's too expensive or whatever...... I'll ask them for the part #. Then, as I ask other dealers about that part........I just give 'em the number........and they can tell me price and availability. I'll tell you who's really good........... Guildford Motors in Surry BC. I have been dealing with them for about 20 years.........the absolute sharpest parts people I've ever found ( no problems with 'our' Rennie though, of course ) . Most VW dealer parts depts. are kinda lame, sorry to say. My local one is a joke pretty much in the parts dept. I have to go down there and help them look up most things.

also.....you say 'vw dealer' .........yet a part on an injection pump sounds like a Bosch part to me..........which is a whole other world, one I don't know that much about ...........where to get individual Bosch parts.........though I'm sure they're available at the right places online. I even have a fine running injection pump that just needs some new seals. Guess I'll be working on getting those small parts one of these days.

but .........when you get a parts person to look up a part........always ask them for the part number too...........that piece of info can be very useful. hope you get 'er fixed .

hey ......price of fuel is WAY down ! Is yours ? Locally for regular we're down to $ 2,75 to 2.89 US per US gallon. from a high in the 4 dollar area not that many months ago. I think I saw diesel at $ 3.65 US per US gallon, still pretty high. Everyone thinks it's due to our elections about to happen.............they make the gas price low to keep people happy for a while..........they figure 'they'll' jack the price right back up. Are you guys in Canada seeing these same low prices now, or are you going down to Bellingham to fill up ? dear vanagoners

our westie has a fuel enrichment actuator on the diesel pump a few weeks ago the T part broke off .. so this week in victoria bc i stopped at a vw specality repair shop the yard was cluttered with many junked westies and other vanagon / bays and etc the guy who ran the shop knew immediately-- what part i sought -- he called the local vw dealer to check availability-- really i stopped there cause i thought it would exist in the parts pile --

he talked for some timer on the phone then said -- i had to go to the vw dealer and present my F1 import form before i could access parts through the dealer especially if my vehicle was zzz in the vin --- i laughed ... we are third owner ... although we have a large quaity of OEM paper work ... i am unsure if this elusive form 1 is part of it ... so whats the scoop ... has any other canadian who has imported a vanagon from europe heard of this ... thanks for imput ... yours -- roger w There are two kinds of jobs in the world: Picking up garbage and telling people things. Successful people do both, with the same good attitude.
