I agree. That concept has been around since 2006 IIRC. However, sometimes I feel people don't always connect the dots. Example - VW campers in the UK (http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/california/) Very similar amenities as our Vanagon friends but with the T5 body and a 5 cylinder diesel to boot. I believe this would be a good base for a diesel/elect hybrid. Plus, with this base-line model starting at 35,900 gbp (almost $57,000) it is much cheaper than the Verdier design - even if you add solar panels. Sorry about that....I've just been drooling over the UK vans for a while now.
