This all goes to point out the very real problems you will face if it comes to making an insurance claim on an older car with no clearly definable market value. I have the same issue with my '83 Mercedes 300D. With vehicles of this age, market averages mean nothing, it's all about condition. The same year, make, and model could sell for $10,000 or $1,000 or $100 depending on condition.

If your van is in exceptional or even "very nice" condition, it's best if you visit your insurance agent and have a conversation about your vehicle and its value BEFORE you need to make a claim.
