To add to the discussion...

I've been looking for a solution to my tire dilemma, go with stock 14" or move up to large diameter wheels. I'm leaning towards staying with the stock steel wheels for now. It seems that the OEM spec tires are getting hard to find (at least in Nova Scotia, Canada).

I came across a possible solution today, Continental Vanco 8 185/80R14, load range D, at ~120$CAN and available.

Anyone with experience with these tires?

D
