I recall chewing up a lug nut REAL good a while back....

The lug nut metal on my '81 was fairly soft. I used a cold chisel to, uh, encourage it. IIRC I also cut into it with a hacksaw, but that scored the threads a *little*. I chose to replace the stud too.

The only trouble with the chisel, is possibly punching in the metal so it ends up being tighter. Try to get the point of the chisel against a high point on the nut, aim to the left, and "shock" it loose.

If a socket still fits, might be worth taking it to someone with an air gun.

I mangled the nut beyond belief, but it came off.

Hope that helps.

Neil.
