USAA and USAA-CIC.  USAA is for present and former military officers;
USAA-CIC is for present and former military enlisted and their
present and former dependents.  They consider both of these to be
preferred-risk pools.  They have good rates, they treat you well, and
they (usually) send you a little dividend check once a year -- $80 or
so for USAA-CIC, probably more for USAA.  They also have a bank that
treats you well with credit cards -- afaik anyone can do business
with them.  I've been with them since 1975, and my family long before
that.  They insured the van as an RV at my request, including
coverage of all original furniture and fitments, and (before that) at
my urgent pleading (I only want to be made whole...) paid $6000 to
fix the thing from a sideswipe, which was about twice what they
reckoned it was worth.  Other party was at fault but uninsured.

When CU has rated insurance companies, they've consistently been at
the very top (typically along with State Farm).

They've been a little slow getting onto the internet, but that's
because they'd been way ahead of everyone else doing business all
over the world on the telephone.
