I questioned my vendor regarding this, and he said that they aren't meant for continuous use. and therefore exposure to UV degradation will surely shorten thier life. The original ones are only to be installed when washing the van, etc. Even so, I still like mine to be always covered, unless actually in use, to keep out insect nests, etc. I still haven't replaced my rotted 'new' cover with something more suitable for my style of use..........
