The '84 uses the split condenser, while the '90 uses the larger, solid, condenser. They're compatible for size, but the fittings are completely different. Split condenser fittings are on the side, later condenser fittings are both on bottom. You need to at least modify hoses and hose end fittings for both supply and return. If you're going to change hose fittings, go with an aftermarket parallel flow style condenser, much more efficient. About $100 for the condenser (check out ackits.com).
