Send Colin my best.  Folks of his capabilites and concern are an
endangered species.

However, if you look at things from the point of view of a farmer, who
can't afford to hire a technician to fix things or haul the broke bits
to some repair shop and pay through various orifices to get back to
the harvest, he's gotta know how to fix it and have enough gloves and
chutzpah to just get it done or at least wired up to finish the day.

There is a local concern called The Bus Farmers.  They 'can do'.

A suggestion to our little group is to learn how to do at least some
repairs and preventive maintenance on your trusty ride.  At least air
up the spare, and just for fun and personal edification, change a tire
in the comfort of a sunny day, your driveway, a park, MallWarts or
like that, when you DON'T have to.  Learn how to put that spare back
in the cubby.

Every day is a school day and fortune favors the well prepared.

Now back to the daily fishwrap and my sunny rock.
