Even if the it was made of magnesium and slippery-shaped, would you really get any use out of a vanagon with the floor raised a foot or so to accommodate batteries? It just wouldn't be a vanagon anymore. IF it were lighter, and IF the batteries could go under the floor, then maybe, for some people under some circumstances.
