Here in the SF Bay Area I was paying about $20 a month to rent oxy and acetylene tanks. I looked into buying tanks, but got warned by a welder that the places that fill them often won't fill used tanks. They get cranky about the condition and certification, etc. I wound up buying used tanks from the my local fill place so there wouldn't be any issues when I came back I prolly fill the tanks twice a year. I can't remember the fill price offhand, but it will be less than two years to recoup the tanks' purchase price so I'm glad I got out of the rental game.
