Subject:      rear seatbelts too short

I can't believe it would ever come to this, but here I am asking....It seems
the rear seatbelts i harvested from my '80 westy and transplanted into my
'85 GL in the stock positions seem to be too short. The problem really lies
in the gerth of the passangers, but i've now had a staggering number of
people that cannot comfortably be restrained due to this problem. So, is
there any year vanagons with longer belts? Or is there a length difference
between GL and Westy belts?
