There are 'tempostats' available to control your oil flow to an aux. oil cooler. Thermo-switches. a good

source for Mocal and Tilton parts as well as all kinds of AN and AN/metric adapters and hoses, etc. Plenty easy to set-up an effective oil cooling system to run at most any temperature you choose. Mocal makes a plate adapter to go between your engine block and stock oil filter. The adapter has an outlet to plumb your oil cooler in and out. A check valve, a switch of some sort to allow normal warming of the oil in the motor and you are all set. If your oil runs hotter than about 300f..not so good. An oil temp gauge is easy to install. I usually tap right into the oil drain plug..keeps the drill shavings out of the motor. BAT is a source for extra drain plugs in metric and VW/Porsche sizes, too. I built an oil cooling system for my racecar (sourcing the parts from BAT) taking the oil out at the Transmission drain plug and putting it back in at the filler plug. A Mocal cooler and a Tilton pump. Brought my tranny oil temp down from 300+ to ~180 and greatly extended the life of my gears.. Haven't seen a need for extra cooling in my inline four gas motored vanagon. Don Hanson
