Note that the ad says it is a "Syncro L". That "L" model Vanagons are not as common as the GL in the US. VW started bringing in the less plush L models in 90-91 as a price busting scheme.

BTW, many came with jumpseats and Weekender rear benches (bed) but no folding side table. The upholstery is tweed vs. velour in the GL. Ironically the upholstery in these vans are a good match to the ones found in the rare Tristars. The Tristars had front seats with armrest sets (like the GL vans) and a rear pocket. The L seats had no armrests or pockets. They vans also got rubber floor coverings which are great for muddy conditions. Did you notice the black painted bumpers? That's the way the came.
