Not sure about the WBX motor, but most motors are set up with a 'oil bypass' valve that shunts the oil around the oil filter until operating temp is reached. Hence, those adapter sandwich plates for an oil cooler add-on are good things. They take the oil for the cooler right before it goes into the filter, but when the motor is cold, they get no flow because of that oil bypass circuit in most motors.

The one I had, from Mocal, the casting with the outlet to the aux. oil cooler was too small and kinda sloppy. I reamed it out with a die grinder to match the #10 AN fittings and the size of my oil cooler galleries. You must have a good flow of air across the oil 'radiator' for it to be effective. If you encounter 'stop and go' high heat situations, a small fan (Spal) can be mounted right on the cooler.

I would certainly rig something up to help cool a Subaru install in a Van, or if I hauled a big camper full in a Westie..Done right, it certainly couldn't hurt..But it does need careful thought and planning and needs proper fabrication...You'd hate to blow up a motor cause you neglected some detail on a 'so-called' Dependability Modification..
