Also, Neil, I'm not 100% sure that what I'm saying will work (it's too dark and cold to check!) but one end or the other needs to come loose, and the steering shaft will remove from the dash crossmember a lot easier than the V-box will remove from the other end. Ask me how I know! It's just that the prying and levering to get the disks back in is to be avoided if possible. I think dropping the upper part would do it, at least for the upper disk. I don't remember where the lower disk is. If it's between the rack and the V-box, you're screwed, you will just have to pry and lever. Ugh. But, it's doable.
