Here in the Southwest part of the US in most inner-city areas, they're known
as "skull", "cholo" or "gang" caps. Down at the docks they're also known as
"night-watchman" caps. Up in the snow areas, I've heard them called
"ski" caps (for obvious reasons). But I've never heard them called
"beanies". Guess it depends on the area of the country.
The latest VW oriented ones I've got in my collection are the limited
edition ones made for Buses By The Bridge at Lake Havasu, AZ earlier this
year. Keeps my head nice and warm in cold weather.
I always thought it was spelled "tuke", but what do I know?
