I'm at a loss! I did what may have been the dumbest thing I've ever done in
my life! My purse may have been stolen last night at a small social
gathering of about 17 people. Inside my purse was my only van key, plus the
blank that I had planned to have cut at the locksmith, but didn't get around
to it. (This is not to mention several other items of little or no monetary
value to anyone, but extremely devastating losses for me.)
By some miracle, my hatch didn't lock the last time I locked the van, so at
least I can get inside, and I even have a club to lock the steering wheel,
but I don't know where to start. I'm hoping to deal with the key situation
without needing a locksmith to come to my house. I do have a Bentley, but
don't have much mechanical experience. Should I try to remove a door lock
or the ignition lock? If a door lock, which one would be the easiest to
take to a locksmith?
There is a chance that I forgot my purse at the event, and someone wound up
with it without realizing it, as there was equipment at this event, and
hopefully somebody picked it up thinking it was part of the equipment. I've
asked the hostess to email everyone there, as we were all invited by email.
I'll give it a little time, but need to know the most economical way to deal
with getting a key made, or a new lock. Luckily I have another car AND the
key to it, so there is no rush to use it right now. I'm just very panicked,
as I've never lost my purse in my life! (I know people have lost entire
homes, especially here in fires. I've only lost my purse - not my home or
my life, but it's still very disorienting!)
Thanks in advance for reading this.
