I've used this flex sleeve tubing on audio cables for years... mostly just for abrasion resistance. The most common name for it is TechFlex.

Check out www.wirecare.com for various options.

One thing to be aware of is that it will melt with high temps...as evidenced by the hot knife cutting through it. There are some varieties that are made for high temps, and if I were going to use this stuff in my engine bay, I would most certainly get one of these.

Good idea though, for sure. It makes wires look great, and is available in many different colors.
