Sure, most of us worth our salt can do this. If it is done from a door lock, though, it will not work the ignition as there are 10 wafers in the ignition and only 7 in the other locks. There are many ways to generate keys. In the case of the Vanagon, the easiest way is to retrieve the code from a door lock and code cutting a key. This will only work, of course, if the locks have never been changed. Some locks are almost impossible to impression (the ":secret" method to which you refer) but that doesn't mean that keys can't be made. In the case of a Vanagon, if the locks have not been changed, I can pull a door handle, find the code, look it up, and cut a key in about 3 minutes.> Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2008 15:18:31 -0500> From: szpejankowski@gmail.com> To: vwcarlocks@hotmail.com; vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> Subject: Re: lost key> > Any good locksmith can cut a key by using a 'secret' method of> inserting a blank into the lock, turning it, hand-filing based on> indentations, and repeating this process until a key is made.
