I, too have kicked many VW windows out from the inside. Sometimes, the glass has gone flying and landed on the ground unbroken, when no-one was available to catch it. That tempered glass is pretty hard stuff. The windshield is a whole different story.....you have to slice the inner lip off the gasket and still be careful pushing/ catching, so as not to break it.
