VW no longer has records of key codes to VIN on Vanagons. Any competent locksmith can cut it from code using the code on any of the locks. The front handles are the easiest. The locksmith will tell you that that 4 digit code does not come up, but proceed the 4 digits with the letter N and it will work. Cutting it by inspecting tumblers is not effective as the ignition has more tumblers than the other locks. You can make a key that fits the doors but not the ignition. The correct blank for the locksmith to use is ILCO X110, NOT X9 as they may try. They will not have a rubber head or original key in all likelyhood. Steve Sandlin Registered Locksmith License B12682
