My daily driver is a '71 Super. I - like you - got it because I didn't want to drive my vanagon or baywindow westys as daily drivers.

I like the "less rare" -ness of the later beetles. It still has the charm of the beetle but doesn't cost as much as an earlier beetle. My getting a Super was kinda by mistake - i thought it was a standard until I got to see it but I love it all the same. Early Supers (71-72) have the flat windshield/dash which I wanted but has the McPherson front suspension and increased trunk size.

The Samba forums have been very helpful with the ownership of the Super. Most questions have been asked already so you can just search but there are also very knowledgeable guys on there.

Here is a buying guide for supers - http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=79656

Best of luck, Andrew
