What little I know of OBD (via the Jetta engine I installed in my '81) is that it's programmed into the ECU.

I would think it would be next to impossible to somehow upgrade the WBX ECU to incorporate this. But what do I know??

<grin>

OBD sure is handy, but from what I"ve read, isn't the "Bee all and end all". i.e. under Motronic 2.9 OBD1, (going from memory on the correct phrase) if there's a "short to ground" shown for the cam position sensor, that short could be at the sensor on the dizzy or elsewhere. Say in a wire(s) in the wiring harness. Yes it can point you to a component, but it won't tell you everything. That said, I think OBD is pretty useful.

Neil.
