A cool tool to read OBD-II equipped engines that you may have converted your Vanagon to, or other ODBII engines isScanGaugeII.  It's about $160.00 and it yields gas mileage, instantaneous and trip and tank, gives you Water temp in degrees,  ignition timing, air intake temp, rpm's, MPH and more.  Oh yeah, reads and stores codes too.


The gas mileage gage has allowed me to optimize my already fuel efficient driving to hypermiling level.  Seared that it's payed for itself by now!  Every hypermiler swears by this gage.
