Subject: Problem resolved: Turn signal working... Mark got it
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I wrote a final desperate plea for help with the turn signals on my 83 diesel westy. They have not worked in years. Mark Drillock accepted the challenge and posted a simple test whereby a 9v battery is adapted to terminals 9 and 14 of the printed foil. He also sent advice to check the condition of the 9 and 14 connector nodes in the white plastic housing. I did this check first, because it was there in front of me, and I immediately saw (with help of a powerful magnifier for those tiny numbers on the connector) that position 14 was not damaged, but it was empty. As in, it contained no wire or connector whatsoever.

That caused me to post again asking what color wire I was looking for. That post got me wondering why I didn't track that item down in the Bentley. The Bentley showed that position #1 should be empty. I remembered counting 13 wires from the connector, so that mean that in all likelihood, someone--possibly me although I don't know why I would have been messing with it--had the number 14 connector come out and put it back on the other end of the connector, in position #1.

I rearranged the wires according to this logic and I have turn signal indication on my dash!

Thanks, Mark. Now, how 'bout my fast-running clock?

: )

Jim
