Many stereo shops (including Crutchfield) will try to limit you to stereos that match the OEM depth of it's radio. Don't let them. The Vanagon can take a full depth single DIN unit (I've done this a number of times.) In that size there are lots of options. I've put Pioneer Nav units in my Vanagons (AVIC-N2, N3, N4, N5 all fit).
