The other problem I have is that I don't use that extra gmail account for anything else and I forget to drop in every few months when Gerry 'auto unsubscribes me' So, I have by no means a complete archive. There is a google gmail api. (I think?) You might be able to script this up such that one could issue a 'catch up archive' command.
My initial interest in this was to go back over individ posts and feed the BTDT site that John Meeks has set up. That process is somewhat time intensive but it's worth it to get the Best of the best so to speak of the archives. Again, as anyone does this, take a moment or two to help feed the btdt site.
