The first inverter I had was a very cheap one from Walmart, and it didn't do that. After a couple of years it fell apart, but it was great till then. My second inverter was more sophisticated and from Canadian Tire. It does do that, and it drives me crazy. I didn't realize it wouldn't work right with lower power - figured it was just trying to protect my battery, which of course I didn't need. I just came across another one for not much, and bought that, but I haven't tried it yet. I bet it will shut off too soon as well - how annoying!
