If I could take a look at your engine compartment and take a few pictures I might be able to sort out some missing connections and make sure things are set up correctly on mine. I'm still working on getting my '86 Vanagon back on the road. I've cleaned several grounds and have pulled the A/C compressor to get to the ground strap underneath. That's when I discovered the oil pressure switches (both!) are NOT connected. I don't understand why the idiot light doesn't come on. The low pressure switch was not connected. I followed the brown wire from the switch to a damaged connector. The wire was just jammed in. The connector appears incomplete due to damage so I cannot tell what wire should be connected where. Connector picture: <http://kippert.com/vanagon/misc/damaged-connector.jpg > The high pressure switch has a brown wire coming up the front of the engine several inches then abruptly ends. It looks cut. I have no idea where this should connect. I cannot find the other end anywhere. I have spent some time looking through Bentley but it does not provide a physical location for the wires (that I can find). Again if I can look at, and take a few pictures of, someone's engine compartment in or near Indy that would be great! -Mark (in Indianapolis, IN) 1986 Vanagon GL, 2.1L 317-796-3357 ------------------------------------------------------------ + To unsubscribe from the Vanagon List send an e-mail to + listserv@gerry.vanagon.com with SIGNOFF VANAGON + in the body of the message. ------------------------------------------------------------ |
