They come that way from the factory. Just like the melted innards of the blower switch, though that takes longer to show up. <g> See my remarks on overloaded circuit...

So check relay 3 on page 97.10 -- then the X terminal on the ignition switch. And if by evil chance you haven't got a Bentley -- you have to have a Bentley to become intimate with the beast, and intimate is what you'll be after you've had it a while, unless you're independently wealthy *and* have a good Vanagon mech. nearby. The wiring diagrams are actually very good, tho' it's unfortunate that they don't also have a physical map of the harness.

The key to the diagrams is on 97.4, 97.5, and for the '84, 97.54.
