one purchaser wrote in his review of this tire : "The loudest tires I ever heard. 3 to 4 mpg less than michelins.'

The price is sure down there though, and it's rated 'good' in deep snow and on ice. I think that size, 195 R 14 might be a nice 'in between' between 185's and 205/70's. I like 27 X 8.50's in a 14 inch LT too...........but I'd sure try some 195's if staying with 14 inch wheels.

I finally just got some 15 inch vanagon wheels so I can mount up a full set of near new Michilin Aguilles, that I've been saving to use....... 205/65 R 14 C ....... man what tires !! they're not rated well for snow/ice ( got my Hakipalitta's for that ) but man are they smooth, and quite, and solid, and strong, and great steering response. I wish I'd gotten wheels for them a couple of years ago ........not sure I want to run 14's anymore on vanagons actually. its' not just the wheel size, 15 vs 14 of course............but sure seems to have a lot more stability, and for what these tires cost, they better be darn good ! Turned my 85 Wolfsburg Weekender into a Ferrari feeling vanagon ! that's a trippy size too..........205/65 R 15.......I chose those for an SVX Syncro Westy I built for a guy..........because I'd heard they were killer vanagon tires, and they'll fit the spare tire holder . Vanagons that had reinforced 205/70 R 14's have a slightly 'deeper' spare tire clamshell....... one of these 205/65 R 15's will fit in one of those, but not in the earlier clamshell I don't think. And a 205/70 R 14 might not fit in the early clamshell either, but they're easy to modify a little , too. These 205/65 R 15's are slightly lower than a 185 or a 195/75 R 14, but wider. it's about the same hight as the 205/70 R 14, but wider a bit. They made my Weekender go better, be a LOT smoother, and quieter too. But winter-useful 195's in a 14 inch sound like a great choice to me too. scott turbovans ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Mulligan" <mulligan_kevin@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, December 09, 2008 7:53 PM Subject: Re: Tire Performance Difference: 185 vs 205
