George, thanks for the Bentley reference, 19.14, and description of the layout. After rolling around under the van I see where the oil cooler is. I also see that it was bypassed completely. It looks like the U-shaped pipe (with the two rubber elbows) is missing. They just ran a hose from the thermo housing to the water pump. I don't understand why it would have been bypassed. Guess I'll be looking for (or fabricating) that part.

And for the record, I've seen less complicated plumbing in the boiler room at my kids 75 year old elementary school!
