Halogens will give just as crappy light as anything else if you put them in a DOT-spec headlamp...the DOT lights are the way they are because the DOT wants them that way, not because they couldn't do any better technically. Aside from that, US RHD cars would have had their headlights replaced for LHD New Zealand use, no?
