Rich, I have the GoWesty 2.3 in my 89 GL 2wd. I did not purchase this engine from GoWesty myself. I purchased the van 15K miles after the PO had them install it, after he was involved in an accident. I've put this van through almost a year of my driving style, best described as aggresive. We name all our vans, and this one earned the name White Lightning. It is, by far, the quickest, perkiest, wasserboxer propelled VW van I have ever driven. This thing accelerates and merges into traffic like a real car. If I was in your shoes and had made the decision to stick with the wasserboxer, I would not hesitate to go with the 2.3. The warranty offered by GoWesty is very attractive too, and kudos to them for honoring the warranty under my name, when I purchased it. Furthermore, they agreed to honor that same warranty when I transfer the engine into my Syncro GL daily driver (soon I hope.) Another option is the Tiico, inline 4. At 5500.00, I would not buy one, but I would buy a used one............yup, you guessed it, I have one for sale. It has around 12-15K miles on it (I need to ck odometer) and runs like a top. I have not had one problem with this motor. We drove it to Puerto Vallarta area a couple of years ago and it never missed a lick, just like on several other road trips. It was not, however, enough engine for my 90 Syncro AW, once I pumped it up with bigger wheels, tires, heavy bumpers, bikes, tools, full fridge, full water tank, wife, dog, me.........you get the point. This engine will propel a 2wd GL, with no problem, and will do 70 or 80 on the highway, no problem, if you choose to drive that fast. I'm in the process of having an SVX intalled and this engine will be available next week, I expect. I'm asking 1500.00. This includes adapter, ECU, engine.....everything needed............. Good luck. Thanks,

Miguel
