I like armrests. In fac,t I was trying to figure out a way to attach the
stock armrest on a Recaro seat.
You just need to weld or bolt the pivot onto the seatback frame. Honda and
Toyota seats are easily
adaptable as well. They take 4-6 bolts to the floor and that's it. Fully
reclining too.
The "made in Taiwan" versions of the Recaros were used in Mitsubishi
Eclipse's The seat foam does
not feel as firm but the rest of the hardware is compatible with
European-made Recaros. The tracks
are removable the same way. Since Eclipse fans are not big on keeping things
stock, said seats can
be found on places like CL for half the cost of typical VW Recaros. You
won't be using the tracks anyway
so it doesn't matter what car they come from. I think someone already
mentioned Recaros from BMW's too.
Don't forget Flofit seats are built the same way as Recaros. The tracks come
off for adaptation to various
cars.
Honda CRV's have single armrest inboard. Perfect for Westies with door
armrests. Earlier model only got
the armrest on the driver's side.
For your armrest fans, Kamei made kits to add armrests on the inboard side
of the seat. Normally clips to
the seat back pivot for both seats as they are designed for the tighter
cockpit of Jettas, Passtats, and Golfs.
Anything is adaptable. Got two sets off Ebay for $1 each -- new. Shipping
was $17 each but so what.
If the seatbelt or door gets in the way, do as Miguel says if that works for
you. Did I mention I like armrests?
