Joy, I did not have that occur when I added the struts, but my canvas is fairly new and i was meticulous about tightening the screws all the way around where the canvas meets the van roof. I'm wondering if you've hit the nail on the head (additional up-pressure from the struts) ... try reefing (as in tightening) the screws down, that hold the aluminum strip onto the van top, that pinches the canvas onto the van top. I'd suggest releasing the pressure by raising the pop top just enough so you can get to those screws, then tightening them (turning them to the right).

A sealing suggestion: you might want to loosen these corner screws, put a little silicone sealer under the canvas from both outside and inside, then tightening the screws down again. That might seal those corners.
