Seems highly likely.  Suggest unhooking one or both struts, see what
changes.  If the struts are doing it, I'd think that auxiliary
snap-over-center type latches mounted as near as possible to where
the struts mount to the top would cure it -- or a stiffening beam
fitted athwartships to the main latch.  Ideally in that case, the
struts would mount to the beam.
